Kooshi Community

I was delighted to be commissioned by my local Village Group to produce all the illustrations for a map of the local area and surroundings for their tri-centenary celebrations.

We have a strong and active local community that care for the local environment and have organised many green initiatives.

I was able to concentrate on native flora and fauna and the many and varied wildlife in our greenbelt area.

The publication was supported by Scottish Natural Heritage and Juniper Green Organic Gin.

Seasonal Kooshi Craft Workshops

Here's some samples of paper birds for an Eco-Stall for a Springtime Primary School Fair. The birds are made using recycled paper and card and a dash of creativity from the children.

Late Summer Workshop. Here I showed the children how to make their own handmade paper with pressed petals and gold thread.

We hand embossed our own paper too, then made up hand-stitched booklets and cards.

Leaf rubbing cards made at one of my Autumn workshops.

Winter Crafts. I did a workshop for the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School Christmas Market, here's one of the block printed Cotton Eco-bags the children did there. A very busy day!

Saturday morning classes at the Steiner School gave children a chance to try out a variety of creative seasonal crafts, here are some decorated candles that we did together.

As Christmas neared, we made these delightful Tissue Paper Transparencies for the children to take home and light up their Winter evenings.

Thanks to Calum for reproduction of some of his artwork.

Welcome to Kooshi Cushions

Hello and welcome to my blog. I'm Natasha and Kooshi Cushions is my new company. I'm based in Edinburgh, where I'm an Arts/Crafts Designer. I offer workshops to local groups and Primary Schools, so please get in touch if you'd like to discuss a project or a workshop.

I'll be launching my Kooshi website later this year but in the meantime I'd like to share some samples of my new work with you here. My work is textile based and combines a love of Folk Art and my traditional craft & making skills. I'm also very interested in Environmental issues, so there's a big emphasis on recycled materials.

Most of all my work is bright, fun to use and I hope stylish enough to look good in your house - or on you ! I'll be updating
the blog from time to time with new pieces, so do please keep an eye out, and don't forget to tell your friends.

29th January

Here's some pieces I'm working on for a stall at a local Primary School next month where we're promoting re-using and recycling. The bag below was made from a pair of old jeans and some pyjama trousers. I'll be teaching the kids to do finger knitting too, to make the straps. These are sweet little handbags - or great for collecting Easter eggs after the visit of the Easter Bunny.
